Film actor Munshi Venu( VenuNarayanan) , who became a household name playing toothless panchayath member in Television political satire ‘Munshi’, has died aged 63.
The unmarried actor suffered kidney ailment and lived alone in a Chalakudy lodge past 10 years. Venu was financially distressed for most part of his life and mounting arrears at the lodge forced him onto streets where he slept on shop verandas.
Locals at Chalkudy admitted him into palliative care and veteran actor Mamooty contributed much towards the actor’s treatment.
Venu was cast in supporting roles in Thilakkam, Pachakuthira, Chotta Mumbai, Kadha Parayumbol, Athmakadha and Utopiayile Rajavu and has appeared in more than 60 Malayalam films.
The actor originally hailed from Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram. The cremation will be held on Saturday.
