US’s first female Muslim judge found dead.
65-year old Sheila Abdus-Salaam, the first black woman and Muslim appointed in New York’s highest court was found dead in Hudson river, according to authorities.
The police responded to a call on a body lying afloat the shore of Hudson River. The body was fully clothed and there were no signs of trauma.
The judge lived in nearby Harlem, a major African-American residential locality. According to investigators, there are no sign of criminality.
Her husband identified her body.
Investigators are looking into how Abdus-Salaam ended up in the river.
