Tue, 2 May 2017 : Former vigilance director Jacob Thomas has submitted a request seeking one-month extension to his leave stint that ends today.
Jacob entered leave reportedly on government advice, after High Court criticised Vigilance department lapses in multiple cases.
While on vacation, his post came to be lain open for take-over by former police chief Lokanath Behra, who was removed from his DGP rank after Supreme Court ordered reinstating his predecessor TP Senkumar.
Senkumar’s Contempt Case citing deliberate governmental delay in his reinstatement will be heard on Friday by the apex court.
According to sources, the overhanging uncertainty regarding vigilance captaincy given Senkumar’s pending reinstatement, has prompted Jacob to seek an extension, again on advice from governance.
