Aimed to rope in consumers in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, who are on low-end smartphones and face connectivity problems, the entertainment ticketing company BookMyShow has transformed its mobile website into an engaging web app .
The company cited customer convenience as reason to come up with the new web product. In the earlier BookMyShow site, the interaction called for response from the customers which they realized was a pain, said Anish Tripati, VP – Product Design.
The web app has been rolled out since 3 weeks but they are still upgrading to add-on features, he added.
Without giving out numbers, Ravdeep Chawla, Product Head said the company has witnessed over 80% increase in conversion rates and revenue contribution with the web app launch.
The web app mimics the recently renovated bookMyShow app in terms of functionality, but is faster and snappier than the app. On the new web app, one can browse through various movie listings or search for any specific movie show or event pertaining to particular sport or entertainment.
The new app also features “JustForYou” that recommends personalized suggestions like movies, events or plays based on their earlier choices.
