With less than a day to go, Kochi awaits launch of what is expected to be the city’s game changer and India’s fastest metro service tomorrow, Saturday June 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Palarivatom metro station and proceed to board the shiny blue and silver rain there for a ride up to Pathadipalam and back. Pinarayi and Metro Boss E Sreedharan will accompany Modi on the maiden ride.
After the inaugural ride, Modi will in a special function at Kaloor International Stadium, dedicate the train line to the nation. 3500 guests are expected to take their seats in the VIP pandal for this. Strict identity and invitation proof checks will be done for those participating in the function.
Top police brass, including AIGs Anish Sirohi, Rajesh Kumar and TK Gowtham have scruitinised the spaces PM is expected to be during the function. Modi be flown to Kochi by special Air Force plane in the morning and will travel through the high-security road stretch to reach the venue.
Meanwhile CCTV’s have been secured around the main venue and adjoining area and the route to be travelled by PM’s cavalcade is cordoned off until PM takes off from the city.
