Following arrest of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Rajesh for printing counterfeit notes, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded high-level probe into the case on Friday.
Who did Rajesh print the notes for, were the fake monies intended for political activities are crucial aspects to be ascertained, he said.
“The actual face of BJP leadership that conducts campaigns against fake notes and black money stands exposed he said. Media reports say the plan was to print notes aggregating to Rs. 200 crore. If so, who were the people who would buy these notes ? Is the accused connected to a foreign agency ? So many questions. Only an in-depth probe can answer all this,” he added.
Acting on a tip-off that Rajesh lend money on enormous scale, police raided his house unearthing fake currency in denominations of Rs. 500, Rs. 2000 and Rs. 100 and Rs. 50. Search was also made at his brother Rakesh’s house. Counterfeit totalling to Rs. 1.37 lakh were seized during the operation along with currency minting machine.
Much of the fake money is said to have been lend among coastal communities and lottery sellers.
