Kochi : Kerala High Court has given its nod for charging Rs. 5 lakh in annual fees for admission to 85% of MBBS seats in self-financing medical colleges.
The order comes based on provisions stipulated by Justice R Rajendra Babu Committee and the government is obliged t inform the students in advances that the fee of Rs. 5 lakh could be subject to change, the court instructed.
Also, the fee structure should be published on government website, the order added and the govt should refrain from entering into any kind of agreement with self-financing colleges, the court ruled.
Admission to 85% MBBS seats in self-financing medical colleges should be based on the fee structure of Rs. 5 lakh subject to hikes whereby, the students will become liable to pay the additional fee, the Court said.
NRI seats remain the same, it clarified.
