Thiruvananthapuram : Justice Rajendra Babu Committee, appointed by govt to formulate fee structure for medical courses, has instructed self-financing medical colleges not to demand blank cheques from freshers.
A directive to the effect has been issued to managements of various colleges.
A blank cheque will be treated as capitation fee the committee said, while the colleges are entitled to demand only bank guarantee for one year at the highest, it clarified.
The move has come following complaints that managements are demanding blank cheques for admission.
According to orders issued by High Court and Supreme Court, a bank guarantee for one year may be sought, beyond which it will be treated as violation of court ruling.
