Jayasurya found guilty of encroaching land in Kochukadavantrhra, Kochi

Kochi : The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau(VACB) has found evidences of illegal reclamation on fringes of Chilavanoor Lake by actor Jayasurya to augment his land holding in  Kochukadavanthra, Kochi.

Vigilance has filed a Chargesheet based on report submitted by a senior scientist of Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority.

The actor figures 3rd in the order of accused, the first being former Kochi Corporation Secretary and second accused named as Building Inspector.

The report has been prepared after detailed study including satellite survey and found that construction work has been carried out on ecologically fragile land categorized under Coastal Regulation Zone(CRZ)-1.

According to Municipal Building rules, only salt mining and natural gas production are allowed on regions covered under CRZ Act.

It transpired during investigations that Jayasurya had not sought permission from Kerala Costal Zone Authority.

The probe came about based on complaint by a social worker, Girish Babu from Kalamasserry who alleged land encroachment by the actor in connivance with municipal authorities, violating coastal region regulations.
