7th Pay Commission: Mega Diwali bonanza for 7.5 lakh university teachers

Over seven lakh university and college teachers have bumper package coming this Diwali as govt today announced they will get benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission.

“We must attract talent into academics. 7.51 lakh teachers will get benefits of the 7th pay Commission” Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said today.

The minister said teachers belonging to 43 central universities and all deemed universities funded by the centre will benefit from 7th Pay Commission.

The hike will be anywhere between Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 50,000.

All assistant and associate professors of 329 state universities and 12912 colleges will also avail the 7th Pay Commission benefit the minister added.

The benefits will be retrospectively effective from January 2016 for the beneficiaries.

In July, the govt had notified recommendations of the 7th Central pay Commission on allowances with 34 modifications with a total financial implication of Rs. 30,748 crore per annum.
