Texas authorities on Sunday discovered body of a small child in their search for 3-year-old Sherin, the adopted daughter of Indian couple residing there.
Sherin was reported missing on October 7 and was last seen in the backyard of their family home early that morning by her adoptive father, Wesley Mathews.
The identity has not been determined yet as also the cause of death, said spokesman for the police department St. Kevin Perlich.
Multiple law enforcement agencies participated in the search including FBI and National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.
The child was reportedly told by father to stand outside the house because “she wouldn’t drink her milk” according to a probable cause document. The child was told to stand by a tree approximately 100 feet away from the home, across an alleyway. When he went to retrieve the child, she was gone, the document said.
Mathews was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.
