Trump scraps visit to N Korean border, Breaks tradition
In a departure from US tradition to demonstrate Washington’s commitment to protect S Korea, President Donald Trump will not visit the heavily armed border dividing Korean Peninsula during his tour of Asia next week.
A senior administration official said Trump who begins his 12-day visit would be too busy to trip to the demilitarized zone(DMZ).
“It is becoming a bit of a cliché, frankly” the official added.
Trump entering north near the demarcation line that passes through the centre of a 2.5 mile wide strip of land that runs 155 mile long, would have mounted tensions about North’s response of what might be viewed as threat in these times.
Instead he will just meet the US military personnel and their families at the Camp Humphreys, about 90 km south of Seoul.
