Sabarimala : In a departure from tradition to ensure smooth bus services during Sabarimala pilgrimage season, KSRTC has ordered transfers en masse, bound to affect transportation of hundreds to the sacred shrine.
It is only four days into the annual pilgrimage season and 500 employees have been shifted from their present locations.
According to the dept, employees from southern districts of the State have been shuffled to north and vice versa.
As a norm, employees take leave before assuming new charge – an occurrence that can disrupt services and leave hundreds of devotees stranded across the State.
Meanwhile KSRTC Managing Director D Hemachandran said that the transfer orders were issued in a way that will not cause any disruption to bus services to Sabarimala.
Explaining the transfer he said, the number of conductors in southern districts were in excess whereas north faced a shortage of them. The transfers are part of ongoing renovation that will help services in all routes, he added
