BJP demands suspension of Jharkand MLAs for holding “Kissing Competition”

Two Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLAs land in trouble as BJP demanded their suspension for organising a  “kissing competition” for tribal couples during a traditional village fair in Pakur district.

The MLAs argued that the “kissing competition” was aimed at preventing increasing number of divorces in the tribal society.

A video showing couples kissing during the fair in Jhumaria village in Santhal Pargana went viral on social media on Monday.

BJP’s Jharkand unit vice president Hemlal Murmu demanded suspension of Siman Marandi and Stephen Marandi from the state assembly over the issue.

Simon is JMM MLA from Littipara in Santhal Pargana. Party MLA Stephen was also present at the fair.

“It has never been a culture in Santhal Prarana” Murmu said, adding,  “This is an insult to women power,”.
