Mumbai : Massive fire broke out in Kamala Mills Compound in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area on Friday leaving at least 15 dead and 12 with burn injuries.
Most of the victims have been women in their 20s and 30s. Fire started at the roof-top restaurant which has a false ceiling made of inflammable material. Fire that quickly spread also slipped to Mojo Bistro, a nearby pub.
A 28-year-old in the pub celebrating her birthday too lost her life.
Terming the incident disturbing, Maharashtra Chief mInister Devendra Fadnavis has called for an ‘in-depth probe”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences to the bereaved families in his tweet that read “Anguished by the fire in Mumbai. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. I pray that those injured recover soon,”.
Police are looking into what triggered the fire.
