Solar Scam : Saritha moves HC against cheating case order
Kochi : Saritha S Nair has moved the High Court challenging her conviction in the first of a string of cases related to the infamous solar scandal.
Edayanarnmula-native Baburaj had petitioned the court after being swindled of Rs. 1.17 crore which he invested in the Team Solar company.
According to Baburaj, Saritha had introduced herself as Lakshmi Nair, the CEO of the company before persuading him for a profitable investment, but ended up losing the entire sum without a trace.
In its judgement, the Pathanamthitta Magistrate court awarded a three-year rigorous imprisonment for Saritha and a compensation for the petitioner amounting to Rs 40 lakh. The sentence was later upheld by the District Court.
Now in her second appeal, Saritha claims she was largely a ‘victim’.
She also claims the petitioner being one of the Directors of the company is equally responsible for the liability.
