KSRTC Staff Booked For Refusing Girl’s Request To Stop the Bus

Payyoli : According to police, the KSRTC staff accused of refusing to drop a girl at Payyoli on her request at night, will face legal action.

The accused crew were summoned by police for questioning but refused to appear, they said. Forwarding the case to court is the next step, they added.

Incidentally, the bus during its trip that day, also refused to halt when police signaled them at another point.

Police officials are empowered to check any vehicle as per the Code of The Criminal Procedure(CrPC) and Motor Vehicle Act.

KSRTC staff avoid cases relating to traffic problems from their faults and behave like they enjoy immunity from being govt employees, police allege.

State’s public buses are obliged to halt for women on request during night hours.

However according to the employees, KSRTC Minnal buses that provide high speed travels to major towns and cities, are exempted from the rule to stop at random requests.

Further, the higher officials at KSRTC had asked them not to appear at the police station in Chombala, they said.
