In an outright defiance of State government diktat that only institutional heads shall unfurl the national flag on Republic Day across the schools, RSS chief Mohan Bhagat hoisted the tricolor in a private school in Palakkad district.
Government circular restriction came against Bhagwat unfurling the flag on Independence Day last year in a govt aided school, defying the orders of district administration.
School authorities faced disciplinary action on the count.
Incidentally, the Vyasa vidhya Peedhom Higher Secondary School where the controversial ceremony took place today, is run by RSS.
Further, RSS state coordinator KK Balram announced that Bhagwat will attend a three-day camp of RSS workers at the school. Organisational work and expansion of Sangh activities in coming times are said to be high on agenda and 5,000 office bearers will take part in the camp.
Meanwhile, legal experts are of the view that the circular might run afoul of the Flag Code of India which has no such restriction.
