Dubai : In a sensational development, Binoy – the son of CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan – was stopped by Dubai police at the airport and passport seized on Monday morning.
There is restriction to his leaving the country pending the ongoing cheating case against him there.
With this, claims of the veteran leader and party about Binoy having no case, takes a beating.
Meanwhile, affirming cheating case faced by Binoy, Kodiyeri’s older son, Binish came up on media saying the amount pertains to only Rs. 1.72 crores, adding, Rs. 13 crore rumoured in media is baseless.
An irked Binish also said Binoy being an adult is solely responsible for his actions and dragging their father’s name into the issue has ulterior motives.
According to sources, the case is civil in nature meaning it entails no imprisonment although the chance of civil changing to criminal looms if the pending amounts are not cleared on mutual terms.
Meanwhile, Binoy has applied for release of his passport.
The case seeking money was lodged by Dubai-based JAAS Travels . Almarzooqui in his complaint urged Indian government’s assistance to extradite Binoy who he said was absconding after cheating his company of Dirhams 7,000,000 (13 crore).
However, Binoy last week said he had borrowed money in a joint-deal in 2014 of which he shelled out two-thirds. Rakhul, his partner allegedly did not deposit this money triggering the case against him.
