After Shiv Sena and TDP, Akali Dal “Unhappy” with BJP
New Delhi : Close on heels of TDP and Shiva Sena, Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD)has voiced its concern over treatment of alliance partners within the NDA.
SAD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral said, “The BJP leadership should be more accommodative of its alliance partners. This is just why TDP and Shiv Sena are unhappy.”
When asked about walking out of the alliance, the leader said “This(cutting ties) is not possible. We are an old ally of BJP. We stood by it even when everybody left. Akali Dal and BJP have an unbreakable bond”.
On Monday, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu slammed the Union Budget calling it a “betrayal”.
The TDP has been clamouring for special status and extra funds for quite some time now.
By contrast, Gujral praised the budget saying “This is the only budget that has done something for the farmers. Allies, including Chandrababu Naidu and Shiv Sena are upset bec they haven’t been accommodated enough”.
Trouble for NDA began before the budget when TDP – the biggest ally of BJP in the south – Supremo Naidu declared there was no sight of special status for the State of Andhra Pradesh despite his 42 trips to Delhi.
Later on return he expressed displeasure at comments from BJP leaders and said “If we are not needed(by BJP) then, I fold my hands and we will go our way,”
The budget which came later was another sore point where Naidu claimed his State needs were not addressed.
Meanwhile according to latest reports, opposition parties boycotted Rajya Sabha for rest of the day after alleging that RS Chairman did not allow them to speak and address issues.
