Teachers accused of abetting suicide accorded heroes’ welcome : Kollam

Kollam : In a shocking revelry, two teachers accused of abetting suicide of 15-year-old girl, were reinstated by the school and given a reception including cake-cutting and cheer.

Pictures posted on social media showed “Welcome Back” iced on the welcome cake with the headmistress and other staff cheering as the teachers under probe cut the cake.

Gauri Neha a class X student had killed herself after being allegedly harassed by the two teachers of Trinity Lyceum School at Thangasserry in Kollam, where she studied.

Gauri who questioned her little sister being shamed by the teachers reportedly was hounded with accusations which drove her to taking her own life.

Both teachers Sindhu and Crescent have been booked under section 305 (abetment to suicide). After initially absconding they eventually surrendered before Kollam district magistrate after High Court granted them anticipatory bail.

Police told HC the teachers had harassed the girl before the suicide in a bid to prevent the bail.

Following news of the reinstatement the Department of Education is inquiring on the development.
