Bus strike from Feb 16: Min Fare & Student Concessions Unfair, says Jt. Committe

Kochi : The joint committee of bus owner on Friday have warned indefinite strike from Feb 16 demanding bus fare hikes, owing to escalated fuel prices and burden of student concessions.

The move comes after talks with Chief Minister on Jan 30  failed to yield increase in ticket fares, those of students included.

Student ticket fares, the representatives told CM should spike up 50 percent and the minimum bus fare to increase to Rs. 10 from the present Rs. 7.

Also concession for students from self-financing colleges should be scrapped, the members demanded.
