Rajinikanth’s Wife Asked to Pay Up 6.2 Crores

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked superstar Rajinikanth’s wife Lata Rajinikanth to pay an ad agency’s dues herself if the firm in which she is the director fails to do the same.

The advertisement agency in 2014 had advanced Rs. 6.2 crore to  Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd post-production of Kochadaliyan film.

The bench comprising Justices Ranjan Gogoi and R Banumathi ruled that if Lata’s firm does not pay its dues to AD-Bureau Advt Pvt Ltd within three months, then Lata will have to pay up the amount as per the undertaking given by her.

Earlier in 2016, the Karnataka High Court quashed proceedings against Lata which were initiated by the trial court order.

For the advance of Rs. 10 crore which was on “guaranteed profit” of Rs. 1.2 crore was advanced against Lata’s personal guarantee.

The SC pay-up order refers to pending dues from the borrowing.
