Pinarayi rules out CBI probe in Shuhaib murder case

Thiruvananthapuram : Citing that police probe in the sensational Shuhaib murder is satisfactory and that the investigation team   is all set to nab all accused, Chief Pinarayi Vijayan told the Assembly that a CBI investigation was not necessary.

Following the announcement, opposition members created noisy scenes and walked out the session in protest.

Following this, the Speaker adjourned the  House of a day.

“The police will take due action no matter who the accused be,” Pinarayi told the Assembly “The theory of ‘Dummy Accused’ is baseless. The ongoing investigation is impartial,” he added.

To allay Opposition’s anxiety a special investigation team led by Kannur Range IG was formulated by DGP, the chief minister said, adding, “the probe is fair and objective”.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala dubbed CM’s refusal to order CBI probe as ‘anti-democratic”.

The Murder
Youth Congress leader Shuhaib and two co-workers Naushad and Riyas were have tea by a wayside stall in Mattannur when a gang of masked men arrived in an unregistered car and hurled bombs.  Soon they attacked Shuhaib with a sword and as he fell to the ground, hacked him multiple times.

As people nearby closed in the gang hurled another bomb and made their getaway.
