In a major overhaul, Saudi Arabia has sacked its top military commanders, including the chief of staff after issuing royal decrees to the effect late last night.
The heads of ground forces and air defences too have been shuffled out.
No reason for the ousters were given so far.
The move comes as war in Yemen, where Saudi-led coalition is fighting rebels, is nearing the end of its third year.
Though King Salman has made shake-ups symbolic of his regime, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is the driving force behind the overahauls.
Last year dozens of prominent Saudi figures including princes, ministers and millionaires were locked up in Riyadh’s five-star Ritz-Cariton hotel in an anti-corruption drive led by the prince.
