Turkish Plane Crashes in Iran, Heiress among 11 killed

Tehran : A Turkish business jet carrying eight passengers and three crew members crashed into a mountain in central Iran leaving all dead on board.

Daughter of a Turkish tycoon and seven of her friends were on the aircraft returning to Turkey days after the jet took them to her bachelorette party in Dubai.

Mina Basaran, 28, had travelled to the United Arab Emirates to celebrate her coming wedding next month and was part of the company’s board of managers in line to run the business.

One of Istanbul’s biggest construction projects, Mina Towers, being handled by her father’s company is named after her.

Shortly before the plane dropped, the jet’s captain had sought permission to fly at low altitude, Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority told media.

Images on social media shows a large plume of black smoke emerging from the mountains.

The bodies were all beyond recognition, authorities said.
