Does Govt Seek To Save Culprits Asks HC : Manoj Murder Case

Kochi : Government’s plea on Kathiroor Manoj case drew High Court ire on Thursday after it sought to lift UAPA charges off the murder case.

CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayrajan and others approached the High Court citing that Unlawful Activities Prevention Act(UAPA) was slapped in the case without prior approval of the State govt. On this count, the State argued, the CBI report cannot be sustained.

An apparently irked court went through a few other frail aspersion in the affidavit and asked  if it were intention of the govt to save culprits in the case.

CBI had named Jayarajan as mastermind in the murder.
