Thiruvananthapuram : The prime accused in murder of former radio jockey Rajesh’s murder, Saleh bib Jalal aka Alibhai, said he carried out the killing out of personal rage over Rajesh wrecking his close friend Abdul Sathar’s life. He insisted he wasn’t hired by the latter.
Alibhai claims close friendship with Sathar who is also a business partner in the gym he works at.
Sathar’s wife, a dance trainer in Qatar, went in for a divorce after developing an affair with Rajesh. The separation according to Alibhai, hurt Sathar deeply prompting revenge towards Rajesh.
Police however refused to buy the story and say Sathar paid money to the killers in three installments. Alibhai claims only the airfare was paid for.
Alibhai says he arrived Kerala on March 24 along with Appunni Rajan, a friend and co-accused in several crimes. “I also called Tanseer, who was in Kerala and together we monitored Rajesh’s movements for two days. Then in small hours of March 27, we entered Rajesh’s studio in Madavur and hacked him to death.”
Post the murder, he threw the weapons in backwaters at Kayamkulam and flew to Qatar via Katmandu after two days, he added
Both Alibhai and Tanseer were brought to the backwaters where scuba divers failed to recover the said weapons. The duo will be produced in court today.
