Malyali Sub-Editor Names His Daughter Asifa, Post Goes Viral

Kozhikode : From compassion for the brutal rape of 8-year-old in Jammu Kashmir’s Kathua district, a sub-editor with Mathrubhumi daily, has named his newborn Asifa after the victim.

In his Facebook post with daughter’s pic embedded he wrote “I have given her name, yes, that very name. Asifa. She is my daughter”.

The post has got over 17,000 shares in first 16 hours and is still counting.

“If the daughter murdered in Kathua was 8 years, my older daughter is 7. Anyone humane can emulate my decision. The religion or caste does not matter. I shared my view with wife and together we decided” he added.
