Wholesale Inflation Eases Down to 2.47% in March

As food articles turn cheaper, the inflation figure based on wholesale prices (WPI) eased marginally to 2.47 percent in March. Prices especially that of pulses and vegetables came down during last month/ Deflation in vegetables stood at 2.70 percent while pulses figured at 20.58 percent of pulses and 1.19 for wheat.

“Fuel and power” sector witness inflation however and rose to 4.70 percent in March from 3.81 the previous month

Retail inflation according to data released plummeted to five-month low of 4.26 percent in March mainly on back of low food prices. RBI earlier this, in its first monetary policy review, had mentioned status-quo citing inflationary concerns.
