Petrol Diesel Prices Hiked 2 Days After Karnataka Election
Petrol and diesel prices were upped today after a gap of nearly 21 days. The fuel shot up by 20 paise across India.
The new petrol rates that took effect from 6 am today for metros are : Rs 74.80 (Delhi), Rs 77.50 (Kolkata), 82.65 (Mumbai) and 77.61 (Chennai). Diesel prices are: 66.14 (Delhi), 66.68 (Kolkata), 70.43 (Mumbai) and 69.79 (Chennai).
With this diesel price touches 56-month high.The petrol and diesel prices come just two days after election in Karnataka.Interestingly despite fluctuations in international crude rates, fuel prices remain unchanged in the fortnight that build up to elections.
Oil companies that have the mandate to revise prices daily apparently cooperated to stay the rates constant.
