New Delhi : The CBI probing sensational Unnao Rape case involving BJP MLA today arrested two sub-inspectors of the Uttar Pradesh police.
Sub Inspectors Ashok Singh Bhaduriaya, the then Station Officer and Sub-Inspector Kamta Prasad Singh, both of Police Station Makhi in Unnao district have been taken into custody.
The officers who were already under suspension will be produced before a competent court shortly.
The two have been arrested for conspiracy and destroying evidence of crime, CBI sources said.
On June 4, 2017 the 19-year-old from Unnao district was allegedly lured by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s guard on promise of arranging a job. She was then raped by the legislator.
Her father who filed a case against the MLA was rounded by police and died in custody the next day.
Frustrated over turn of things, the girl attempted self-immolation in front of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence.
On govt request CBI then took over the case from the police probe team.
