Rajkot : A Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death by unidentified men allegedly to be the owners of the factory he worked for.
The incident took place Sunda inShapar industrial area of Rajkot district.
The victim Mukesh Savji Vaniya,40, is a contract labourer with Radadiya Industries there.
The video of him being lynched by three men has gone viral in Saurashtra.
The footage shows Mukesh tied to a pole as the three men, allegedly the factory owners, take turns to beat him non-stop. Mukesh pleads for mercy through the onslaught.
Mukesh along with his wife Jaya and another woman were in the factory premises clearing trash, when the trio attacked him suddenly.
According to Jaya’s statement, the men hit the two women with belts and drove them before proceeding to target Mukesh.
The women returned with relatives while Mukesh was still being beaten.
He died on the way to Rajkot Civil Hospital.
Two men have been detained in connection with the case.
The motive is unclear and workers suspect Mukesh might have been suspected of thieving.
