Kumaraswamy Steers Through Confidence Vote As BJP Stages Walkout

BJP staged a walkout from Vidhan Soudha ahead of floor test.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswmy moved the motion of confidence on the floor of the House.

Upholding the alliance, Kumaraswamy said his decision to enter into an alliance with Congress was for the future of JD(S).

“People should not feel I joined hands with Congress because I wanted to become the Chief Minister. I took the decision for the future of my party,” he said.

Congress MLAs reached Vidhan Soudha in buses from the Hilton Embassy, Golflinks at Domlur in Bengaluru.

Both parties issued whips to their legislators to vote in favour of the motion when put to vote.
