Centre has appointed Kerala BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan Mizoram’s new governor.
Incumbent governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma completes his term on May 28.
According to sources, the move is intended to give Kummanam prominence at national level.
Also rumours are rife that Amit Shah played crucial role in conferring the post to Kummanam.
Kummanam is Kottayam native who graduated from CMS college there. He started his career as journalist and later joined government service.
He resigned the job to engage more in social service and became secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi and Sabarimala Ayyappa Sewa Samajam.
Kummanam assumed the post of BJP president in the state on Dec 18, 2015
