A 21-year-old youth hospitalized after being run over by a CRPF vehicle on Friday, succumbed to his injuries this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kaiser Ahmad.
Ahmad was stuck amid a protesting mob when a Cetntral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle crashed into him in Nowhatta area in Srinagar. Two others were injured.
The accident was owing to vehicle taking a wrong turn because of which it turned into the mob, police initially said.
There was not police deployment in the area as authorities sought to ease tension during congregational prayers on Friday.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah taunted the state govt tweeting “Ceasefire means no guns so use jeeps”.
“Earlier they tied people to fronts of jeeps an paraded them around villages to prevent protesters. No they just drive their jeeps right over them. Is this your new SOP @MheboobaMuftisahiba,” he asked.
