Transgender Is Free To Live As She Chooses : Kerala HC

Kochi : The Kerala High Court today allowed a  25-year-old transgender to live as she wished fter a medical panel cleared her of any prevailing psychological disorder.

The bench comprising V Chitambaresh and KP Jyothindranath was closing a petition filed by the transwoman’s mother that said her son was a male and that members of the transgender community had illegally detained him.

In the last hearing, the transwoman who appeared before the court said she was a transgender and wanted to live with others of her community.

The bench then directed a team of doctors to physically and psychologically evaluate her status.

The bench said she was a mentally healthy transgender who had rights to live according to her will.
