Afghan Man With Foreign Currency Worth Rs. 11 Crore Held At Kochi Airport

An Afghan national bound for Dubai has been apprehended at Kochi airport for allegedly trying to smuggle our Rs 11 crore in foreign currency on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old man was identified as Yusuf Mohammed Siddiqui and was headed to Dubai from New Delhi via Kochi aboard Air India yesterday.

Delayed Flight Leads To Catch
Owing to technical snag, the flight was rescheduled and passengers were transported to a hotel in Kochi. When Yusuf’s baggage passed through the X-Ray screening, images led to suspicion of contraband.

Yusuf and the recovered currency has been handed over to Intelligence Bureau and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigations.
