In yet another twist to the police driver Gavaskar’s case, ADGP in his complaint alleged that injuries sustained by him was due to rash driving rather than an assault by the officer’s daughter
According to ADGP Sudesh Kumar, on 14 June while ferrying his wife and daughter to kanaka kunnu Gavaskar drove rashly and sustained injuries in the impact
The officer denied any violence on part of his daughter.
The ADGP’s complaint comes at a time when crime branch is probing Gavaskar’s complaint claiming assault by the officer’s daughter
Incidentally DGP Loknath Behera handed over the complaint to crime branch
The incident took place on 14 June when Police driver Gavaskar, attached to Armed Police Battalion ADGP Sudesh Kumar, was ferrying the officer’s wife and daughter to Kannakakunnu Palace grounds for their morning walk in the official car.
According to Gavaskar, the ADGP’s family members abuse staff members on and off and he spoke about it to Sudesh Kumar a day earlier.
Once in the car, the women questioned why he complained to ADGP. They grew louder in their rage and at one point the daughter took her phone out hitting Gavaskar on his neck and shoulders repeatedly.
Gavaskar then pulled the car over and later sought medical care at Peerorkada Taluk Hospital.
While Gavaskar filed a case of assault endorsed later by medical report, the ADGP’s daughter filed a counter claiming assault on her the next day.
The ADGP has been removed from his post as battalion chief and is rumoured to be placed outside police force following uproar.
