8-Year-old’s Rape in Mandsaur; Thousands Take to Streets in Protests

Madhya Pradesh : Thousands congregated on  streets of Mandsaur on Frida as news of 8-year-old’s brutal rape broke on social media and television.

The tragic incident that took place on Tuesday evening came to light only yesterday.

The girl waited outside her school for her family when the 20-year-old man abducted her and took her o a deserted bus stand where he raped her. The man then tried to slit her throat.

The child survivor is reportedly in critical condition.

The city was awash with slogans and placards demanding govt measures to stall repeated brutality on little children.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed anguish saying “Yeh darinde dharti parj boj hai(These beasts are burden on the earth and don’t deserve to live”.

“In cases of rape we have made provision for fast track court trials. We shall request the high court and Supreme court for making similar provision so culprits get their death punishment at the earliest,” he added.

The Madhya Pradesh Assembly passed Bill awarding death penalty to those found guilty of raping girls aged 12 and below.
