Serial Actress Surya, Mom and Sister Held For Minting Fake Currency

Kollam: An entire floor at TV serial actress Surya’s house was found dedicated to producing fake currency after police raided her residence in Kollam and sized Rs 57 lakh counterfeit.

The house named “Ushas” in Manayilkulangara, was purchased 6 months back.

To the neighbours Surya, her mother and sister  were a rare sight.. Besides the high walls and foliage obscured view to the house, they said.

Professional Setting
The setting found was complete with modern machines that churns out notes, color printer, printer inks, executive bond paper and fake seal of Reserve Bank.

The notes seized came in denominations of ‘500’ and ‘200’.

The Information
Police caught Krishnakumar ,46, and Liyo Sam ,44, both natives of Karunagappally on 1 July Sunday, while exchanging fake notes ors Rs. 2.25 lakhs. During interrogation, they revealed the source of their ware, leading to police raids on Surya’s residence .

Liyo is a retired soldier.

Multiple Lakhs Offered For Genuine Currency
Incidentally, Krishnakumar has served imprisonment in identical case where he was caught with counterfeit worth Rs. 38 lakhs. He was charged under UAPA and released from jail only in Nov 2017.

The modus operandi then was Rs 35 lakh fake currency in exchange for  genuine notes worth Rs 1 lakh.

Mother The Main Kingpin
Surya’s mother Ramadevi is considered the kingpin by police. She apart from letting out the facility invested Rs. 4.36 lakh in the hardware and setting.

The business interest was set as half share in profits.

All three Surya 36, Ramadevi and Shruthi ,29, have all been taken into custody and placed under arrest.
