Kochi: The Kerala government on Monday urged the High Court to appoint a woman judge for trial of the sensational abduction case where a popular Malayalam actress was waylaid and molested in a moving car on 17 Feb last year.
The move comes as a shot for the actress whose plea earlier for a woman judge was rejected by the Ernakulam Principal Districts and Sessions Court citing shortage of woman judges in the district.
Meanwhile the sub-court adjourned the trial to 1 Aug after the defence counsel sought more documents relating to the case.
Popular Malayalam actress who was on her way to Kochi was waylaid, abducted and molested in a moving car on Feb 17 last year. Pulsar Suni and gang who carried out the assault filmed the sexual assault allegedly at behest of actor Dileep.
According to reports, Dileep nursed a vengeance against the actress for break-up of his first marriage allegedly by reporting his extra-marital affair with actress Kavya Madhavan to his first wife.
