Heavy Rains Across State; T’Puram Opens Dams; Orange Alert in Pathanamthitta

Thiruvananthapuram : Neyar and Aruvikara dams in Thiruvananthapuram have opened shutters following torrential downpour that continues to lash across districts.

In the capital several parts of the city became water-logged including railway stations.

Roads at many places have high waters with buses steering through at slow pace.

Tracks at Thampanoor and Pettah were submerged in rains delaying trains by several hours.

A 75-year-old man was electrocuted r coming into contact with live wire in the city.

Meanwhile, MeT has forecast heavy showers and strong winds till Thursday.

After orange alert issued in Idukki, another one has been issued for Pathanamthitta’s Kakki dam.

Athirapilly Waterfalls in Chalakudy has been temporarily closed.

In Kozhikode, National Highway 212 at Engapurzha  is unnavigable.

Roads to Wayanad, Mysore and Bengaluru are most affected and would be uplyable if rains intensify.
