Perumbavoor : Police have arrested a Perumbavoor native , Nishad, in connection with GST fraud to the tune of Rs 130 crore. The fraud was committed by creating fake bills.
Sale bills were generated using Aadhaar and PAN cards of commoners unknown to them and transported to different delivery points.
The racket came to light after the GST authorities conducted raids on 8 plywood companies based in Perumbavoor and adjoining areas. The raids lead to discovery of fake bills racket.
Tip-off on similar racket also prompted raids in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
The Perumbavoor operation also unearthed 30 lakhs of unaccounted money and several bank accounts.
Officials have put the fraud figure at Rs 130 core with deeper probe still underway.
This is Kerala’s first GST racket to be busted.
