Army Major, 3 soldiers killed as forces foil infiltration bid

Srinagar: An Army major and three soldiers were killed on Tuesday morning at in Kashmir’s Gurez Sector as Indian army foiled an infiltration bid by Pakistani terrorists.

The slain personnel were identified as Major K P Rane, Hawaldars Jamie singh, Vikramjee and Rifle man Mandeep

A group of eight terrorists crossed the line of control (LoC) at Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipure district, 125 Kms from Srinagar.

Our soldiers intercepted the gang leading to a fierce battle that is still ongoing. Two terrorists were killed and reinforcements were pressed in to go after the remaining who fled.

The Pakistani forces have been firing at Indian posts in Gurez since Monday night to provide cover to a group of heavily armed infiltrators.
