Poet Chemmanam Chacko dies aged 93
Kovhi : Satirical poet Chemmanam Chacko passed away at his residence in Chemmanm Tuesday night. He was 93.
Chemmanam Chacko has sevaral awards to his credits including Sathithya Academy award conferred twice and lifetime award in 2006.
Chacko was undergoing treatment for age-related ailments and his health deteriorated considerably in the past few days.
Born in Mulakkulam village near Vaikkom, Chacko studied at Pambakkuda Govt Middle School, Piravaom Got Middle School and Aluva UC School before graduating at Thirvanthapuram University college.
Chacko’s first published work was Pravachanam in 1946. Chacko has penned several poems for children too.
