The miscreant, identified as Rahul Cheru Palayattu, worked as a cashier at Lulu Hypermarket in Bousher in Muscat.

Responding to a social media post that said relief camps were in need of sanitary napkins, Rahul wrote “How about condoms too…”

The comment invited widespread outrage on social media and Rahul apologised for his insensitivity saying he was in drunken state at time of writing.

The act was damning  job-wise  however with dismissal letter  arriving soon enough  saying “This is to inform you that we have terminated you from services with immediate effect because of your highly insensitive and derogatory comments on social media with regard to the current flood situation in Kerala, India. The letter was singed by company’s HR Manager in Oman.

Incidentally, Lulu owner and billionaire businessman Yusuf Ali donated Rs. 18 crore towards relief efforts in his native state of Kerala.
