Four new terror recruits surrender after gunfight : J & K
Srinagar : Four terrorists were taken into custody Sunday morning after a brief gunfight with security forces in the the upper reaches of Kupwara district, Jammu Kashmir.
The militants were trying to sneak out of the country at the Line of Control (LoC). Three others of the gang escaped under the cover of heavy firing at Handwara, about 70 km from state capital Srinagar.
In a statement issued today the army said it received reliable information about four newly recruited terrorists being guided out by three old-timers of Al Badr outfit.
“After a brief gunfight, extreme restraint was exercised and opportunity given to the terrorists to surrender,” the statement added.
According to the army, the arrested terrorists were carrying “warlike stores” suggestive of preparations for a serious strike.
