Thiruvananthapuram : After being refused free rice Kerala is once more left bare handed as Centre rejects demand for subsidised Kerosene. The disappointment comes at a time when the state is struggling to climb out worst flood disaster in a century.
Minister for Food P Thilothaman earlier wrote to Union Minster for Petroleum seeking Kerosene on subsidised rates.
The ministry responded saying, while 12,000 kilo litre kerosene shall be provided, no subsidy would apply.
Kerosene when subsidised is priced at Rs. 13 per litre as against Rs 70 per litre without it.
At the consignment level Rs. 70 rate will burden state govt with an additional Rs 84 crore.
