Heavy rains in Sabarimala; Water reaches Pampa Annadana Mandapam

Pathanamthitta : Heavy rains continue to pound in Sabarimala region with Pampa renovation works coming to a standstill.

Pampa river has swollen, breaching the sandy shore and is making its way to Annadana Mandapam(hall that serves food in chairty).

At Ganapati temple, the old walkway(nadapandhal) is submerged, with water risen up to the temple’s threshold.

In the deluge that struck mid-August, the bridge to Pampa Mannapuram(sands) through Valiyanavattam-Cheriyanavattam was destroyed. Works that began after rains subsided, includes restoration of this crucial pathway. Also the works at waste processing plant is stalled for want of a temporary bridge, the work of which has now halted from high waters.

A massive sand check damp built near Triveni bridge to stop Pampa from it’s now divergent course, has a temporary pathway. This is the only usable path over Pampa to the temple complex.
